Marmaris Winter Trophy Returns with Challenging Weather Conditions
13th MIYC Winter Trophy Kicks Off After Pandemic Break
Marmaris International Yacht Club, which took a break from the winter trophy in 2020 due to the pandemic, is giving the start again on January 22, 2022.
The final leg of the 6-leg trophy will be sailed on May 14-15, 2022.

Thus, MIYC will have completed its 13th Winter Trophy.
Registrations are ongoing, and approximately 35 local and foreign boats are expected to participate in this year's trophy.
Three races are planned for each leg of the trophy.

The first leg to be sailed on January 22-23 coincides with the harsh days of winter conditions.
A race with surprises in terms of wind and precipitation is expected.
The Chief Race Officer of the trophy will be Can GİRAY with a 7-person team.

"2020 and 2021 were strange years for all of us.
Although the "Winter Trophy" was not held under this name for obvious reasons, MIYC organized individual races under different names.
In 2022, as far as I know, all sea and sailing enthusiasts are approaching the races with more longing and enthusiasm...
MIYC has been planning and implementing fast races on technical courses in winter trophy races for years.
I think these efforts have started to pay off in recent years.
Boats that previously raced in the cruising/leisure class have long since renewed themselves and joined the racing fleet.
Although there is no definite and official information yet, in 2022 we will watch ambitious local and foreign teams focused on the podium together with boats designed entirely for racing such as Kerr40, Farr40, Swan42, Melges32 in the waters of Marmaris.
According to reports, it looks like we will have weather conditions ranging across a wide spectrum between rain, stormy winds and sun, between freezing and warm in this leg; I hope these surprise-filled conditions, which are normal for Marmaris, will allow all participating teams to have an enjoyable and fun race. "

MIYC under the chairmanship of Zafer ÖZNUR meticulously plans and realizes well in advance what needs to be done for racing in the region.
After registrations close on Friday, January 21, the trophy will begin with a cocktail at 18:00.
Wishing for a sportsmanlike trophy to take place without compromising health, without accidents but competitively.
