The most important Yacht Tourism Port of the Mediterranean Region, Fethiye, where many historical and archaeological sites are located, is a sheltered port city behind Fethiye (Knights) Island, situated in the southeast of Fethiye Gulf.
The port is entered respectively between Battıkkaya on starboard, Topyalak Point, Fethiye (Knights) Island on port side, Paçariz Point on starboard, and a semi-sunken shipwreck. A large area on the eastern side of the port at 10-13 meters depth is quite shallow. These areas are marked with 2 shoal beacons.
Following Paçariz Point, at the end of the port, Aksaz Cove is reached. This is the location where vessels wishing to anchor are generally found. The bottom is mud and holds anchor very well. In fact, after anchoring, you can clean the mud holding the anchor and make a long voyage. Many yachtsmen stay here during winter months. It is a sheltered cove, protected from all weather conditions.
Fethiye is a port of entry and exit, Customs is available. There is a private marina and municipality marina operations in the region.
Ships and Ferry Boats operating to the Aegean Islands berth at the port located in front of Fethiye coastline.
The long quay next to the port is the municipality marina. The marina management is right behind it (0252-614 35 39). This area is deep enough for berthing.
At the quay where vessels berth by anchoring, electricity and water are connected, there is a fuel station. Black water discharge unit is available. However, during summer season, there is hardly any space available. This quay is practically a location where tour, diving and shuttle boats operating for commercial purposes berth. Behind it, there is a very nice waterfront promenade, parks, shopping and cultural center. Fethiye Archaeology Museum and the ancient Amphitheater are right behind the quay.
Rock tombs and the castle built by the Knights of Rhodes are visible on the hills behind the quay.
Fethiye is a large and charming town where all kinds of facilities are available. With its large shopping centers, markets, vegetable, fruit and fish halls, banks, ATMs, hospitals and pharmacies, the town meets every need.
There are connections to all parts of Turkey with buses departing from the intercity bus terminal. Dalaman International Airport is 55 kilometers from Fethiye. Ferry services are also operated to the Aegean islands by sea.
Being an important center for yacht tourism, there are all kinds of equipment stores and maintenance repair workshops. The options in this regard are quite numerous. There are also yacht sales and charter companies in the region. Car rental companies, taxi stands, and regular minibuses to many neighboring towns are available.
Very important diving tourism companies organize diving tours to the excellent spots around Fethiye. Diving companies offering weekly tours also take you to the most interesting waters of Fethiye.
One of the reasons why Fethiye is an important tourism center is that there are many historical sites and ancient ruins. Its castle, Rock Tombs, Kayaköy, Telmessos are some of these.
